The Role

The main purpose of the role is to achieve the depot revenue and profit target in line with the annual budget set.

This is a hands-on role and you will be responsible for ensuring the company service levels are achieved at all times whilst listening to the customers and striving to exceed their expectations.

You will ensure risk is effectively managed through compliance with all company policies including Health and Safety as well as operating within legal and regulatory requirements.

You will input in an informed and accurate way into budgeting and forecasting depot performance and control costs in line with depot size.

With commercial acumen, you will recognise when investment needs to be made to support profitable business growth and ensure that the necessary resources are in place to enable the delivery of depot targets. Cost and waste reduction are also important to the role.

You will monitor and support your team providing regular communications, encouraging feedback and contribution of ideas and initiatives.

You will enjoy working with major clients to maintain and develop existing and new revenue streams.

The Applicant

With previous experience of running a depot operation with full P & L responsibility you will have proven success in achieving sales growth, revenue and profit targets.

With a good level of numeracy, verbal and written skills you will be educated to a minimum of 'A 'level or equivalent standard.

Confident and articulate, commanding respect through knowledge experience and personal style, you will have a passion for service and strong customer focus.

Thriving under pressure you will be capable of managing multiple priorities and working to critical deadlines and objectives.

Your coaching and supportive leadership style balanced with an ability to drive performance to achieve objectives, will demonstrate previous success in leading sales and operations teams.

Duties include:

  • Ensure effective communication across the shifts so all areas of the operation are aware of the transport and resource plans
  • Recruit and onboard your team, which includes interviewing and training
  • Develop strategic operating plans that reflect the longer-term objectives
  • Manage all KPI performance and provide KPI reports to the Directors on a timely basis
  • Represent the company to customers and professional associations
  • Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships

You will need the following to be eligible for this job:

  • Have a Logistics Distribution background with previous experience of running a depot operation
  • Be CPC National / CPC Internationally qualified
  • Have a minimum of 5+ years Transport Management experience
  • Have managed in excess of 80+ staff previously.
  • Have managed budget in excess of £10M
  • Be commercially aware and results driven
  • The ability to motivate and lead people
  • Be capable of managing multiple priorities, working to critical deadlines and objectives
